| Cyclone Sweeps Up Two Innovation Awards for DEK |

DEK announces that it has received two Innovation Awards in the categories of Assembly Line Tools and Screen Printing Equipment for its Cyclone High-Performance Understencil Cleaning system – part of its Productivity Tools portfolio. The awards were presented by EM Asia Magazine during a ceremony that took place on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition International Hotel during NEPCON China/EMT China.
With increasing miniaturization and the advent of lead-free manufacturing, proper cleaning of the stencil becomes more important than ever for high-yield production. However, with the higher viscosity of lead-free materials combined with ever-smaller aperture sizes, cleaning stencils thoroughly and without sacrificing cycle time is a challenge. DEK’s Cyclone understencil cleaning technology enables fast and thorough cleaning of advanced stencils on the printing platform — cutting total cleaning time to around half that required by conventional cleaning systems, while also delivering rapid cassette-based paper changeover in under 20 seconds. Cyclone’s speed and efficiency delivers a cleaning process that maximizes pre-placement yield, uptime and productivity.
Unlike traditional cleaning methods, Cyclone provides bi-directional active cleaning in which a lateral oscillating action occurs simultaneously with traverse. Easy to implement and use, the technology’s five stage cleaning head provides a progressive and thorough stencil cleaning, with a single wet oscillating stroke that combines with the five leading edges to dislodge and remove remaining solder paste residue from the stencil apertures. This procedure is followed by a return high-flow vacuum stroke using all four vacuum vents. Cyclone’s multiple action cleaning process completely eliminates the need for a conventional third pass, further enhancing productivity.
