Host communication features available for the latest generation DEK screen printing platforms conform to open standards, to integrate pre-placement equipment with enterprise computing strategies. On the shop floor, computer integrated manufacturing creates a unified environment for programming and optimising production lines, especially multi-vendor lines that feature best in class equipment.
The standard for communication between manufacturing equipment and a host controller is defined by the GEM/SECS II (SEMI E30) protocol. Equipment featuring a GEM compliant interface can be easily integrated into enterprise CIM strategies. DEK printers available with GEM/SECS II host communications include Horizon iX, Europa and Galaxy platforms. Specifying this optional feature integrates screen printing resources within line-wide - and enterprise-wide - optimisation and control of processes, materials and documentation. Host communications is not available for the DEK 248 platform.
GEM/SECS II gives manufacturers the flexibility to choose production equipment and host software that best suits their requirements. It delivers near plug and play capability, allowing fast and easy line-wide integration. Machine programs and line data can also be centralised for instant transfer to a local or remote assembly line, and easy access when creating management reports. The ability to distribute machine program data quickly minimises disruption to production schedules.
DEK maintains positive relationships with major vendors of CIM suites to ensure customers have access to readily available, off-the-shelf CIM packages capable of exploiting the full power of DEK screen printing technology. While GEM/SECS II defines a communication standard, the ability of host software to help the user extract the full potential of each machine in the line depends on high quality co-operation between the machine vendor and the authors of host software packages. DEK is an active partner in initiatives that give users the power to select best in class equipment and build powerful, cost-effective manufacturing facilities.
DEK's commitment to supporting industry standards such as GEM/SECS II gives the end user the power to plan scalable manufacturing strategies for long-term business success. With growth comes the need for greater capacity and capability; this is supported by relevant, powerful standards. When you choose DEK as your partner, you can be sure that our investment in the future of the industry is as strong as your own.
